80064 update report from Steve Masters 25th June 2026
Wow it was a bit too warm for this today but we managed!! 36 degrees in the shade!
Crane day! First the cab roof off. Then the bunker which was also tipped back to enable the base to be inspected and worked on.
Then the two tanks which were also tipped into their sides.
Then the loco frames were lifted clear of the wheels and positioned onto the suitably modified trolleys.
This will now enable the final stage of stripping before the cleaning, inspecting, blasting and painting starts.
