Two weeks ago the WSRA launched a Landslip Appeal on behalf of the West Somerset Railway.

WSR supporters have been responding with huge genorisity and we can now report that donations receved to date have exceeded £5000.  This, together with confirmed gift aid of £800 means that we have achieved over 23% of our £25,000 target.  There is more gift aid yet to be confirmed and together with the WSRA’s match funding pledge more than £11,600 is now in the restricted funding ‘pot’ for next winters work to replace the contaminated ballast and the worst affected parts of the track near Tribble Bridge.

We still need more!  The expected cost of the work next winter is £50,000 and so we have a way to go.

This Winter’s work on the track continues and thanks to generous donations the WSRA has today purchased another 20 tonnes of ballast for the Infrastructure Team to use on the track.

At the beginning of this month we actually did purchase Bags of Ballast.  This is not normal practice but was requested due to the accessibility issues of the area being worked on.
