Earlier this year WSRA launched a ‘Buy a Bag of Ballast’ fundraising campaign to help support the Infrastructure team with their work maintaining the railway.  The campaign ran during the first 3 months of 2022 and raised more than the £2,400 targetted.

Those who donated will be pleased to note that in the last couple of weeks WSRA has purchased 100 tonnes of ballest (5 lorry loads) to support the railway.  Sadly, there has been a significant price increase and we were only able to purchase 5 lorry loads for the previous price for 6.  Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we’re not out of funds yet, but will probably need to re-launch the campaign in the new year, so please keep a look out for that.

WSRA has also recently purchased 28 lengths of Bullhead rail to support the upcoming winter works from funds held in the general Rail Renewal fund.
