During June work on the tender has concentrated on fitting the side fenders and the rear coal plate at the back of the coal space.

Following completion of the internal welding at the end of May the tender was returned to it’s correct way up and moved back into Minehead shed.

The side fender for the right hand side laid out for marking out the positions for the mounting brackets.

Members of the team in the process of positioning and drilling the metal butt strips that join the left hand side fender to the main tank. Team member and Chief Hole Driller David Hurd is positioning the  safety chain for the magnetic drilling machine to drill the next hole.

The left hand fender all bolted up and the rear coal plate temporarily bolted in position.

The right hand fender awaiting the drilling of the holes for it’s butt strips.

At the end of June this “from the footplate” view shows that the tender tank is approaching completion of the main structure and begining to look the part.

A reminder that the fundraiser is for shotblasting and epoxy resin coating of all surfaces to help preserve the work, adding up to 30 years of useful life to the Tender. The WSRA is covering half the cost from existing resources, the other half to come from donations.

If you are able to assist, any donation you can make would be appreciated.
